Gilgamesh

Why Gilgamesh?

Gilgamesh was the first ever known hero of the human history, his epic, his story and legend tell us about his pursuit of meaning, love, eternal life and mortality.

On the tablet X, a beautiful message is given to Gilgamesh, that reminds us about the truly important things of life:

As for you, Gilgamesh, let your belly be full, Make merry day and night.

Of each day make a feast of rejoicing. Day and night dance and play!

Let your garments be sparkling fresh, Your head be washed; bathe in water.

Pay heed to a little one that holds on to your hand, Let a spouse delight in your bosom.

Bezel

The Gilgamesh watch is unique in its kind, as it allows you to change the bezel. You can choose between two types of bezels, one round, for a more classic and timeless look, and another dodecagonal, for a more contemporary, elegant and sporty look.

Dial

The beautiful dial of the Gilgamesh watch is unique. On its Surface, a part of the XI Tablet, know as “the flood Tablet” is engraved. The Tablet says:

I have been looking at you,

but your appearance is not strange–you are like me!

You yourself are not different–you are like me!

My mind was resolved to fight with you,

(but instead?) my arm lies useless over you.

Tell me, how is it that you stand in the Assembly of the Gods,

and have found life!”

Utanapishtim spoke to Gilgamesh, saying:

I will reveal to you, Gilgamesh, a thing that is hidden,

a secret of the gods I will tell you!

Exhibition case back

The rotor of the Miyota 9133 movement is beautifully engraved with cuneiform writing taken from tablet XI, the inscription tell us about the journey of Gilgamesh beyond the boundaries of the known world, testing his limits and teaching him about the true nature of life and death.

In the center, there is a Lamassu engraved. The Lamassu are mythological figures that represent protective geniuses, that protect against evil, and were usually placed at the doors of temples or palaces in order to protect the buildings and their inhabitants as well as purify their visitors.

The Gilgamesh watch come in three different colors:

Eden green

  • The beautiful green dial evokes the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, as well as the Garden of Eden, which according to legend, was located in the birthplace of Sumeria, and the final resting place of Gilgamesh.

Sumerian Night

The beautiful black remembers the Sumerian knowledge of the planets and stars. The night and the sky that they contemplated marked their culture and their life, and with it they bequeathed to us the origin of divinity.

Ishtar Blue

The beautiful blue dial is inspired by lapis lazuli, the mythical stone that was associated with divinity and the heavens. The Ishtar Gate has on its bricks a representation of this beautiful stone.
